It is very important for us that he manages to learn both languages equally as it will open opportunities for him in the future. I speak to him mainly in French during the day but once his dad is home, it is mainly English.
Life around him is in English, from people at the grocery store to people on TV, so I sometimes get worried he'll learn more of it than he will of French - it is a lot of pressure to keep up when your child can't say a word yet!
So I've looked everywhere for bilingual toys - not toys that only say a few words in French.
He's got a music table that can switch between English/French modes that we found at Toys R Us for £29.99.
We've also been actively reading him bed time stories in both languages as well, myself in French and his daddy in English.
We've got the same Mr & Mrs books in both languages, a few classics in one language or another (The Very Hungry Caterpillar in French, Room on the Broom in English) and our latest found is this book that can be translated in various languages and customised with your child's name.
"Oh, j'ai perdu mon nom!" in French
A new book is now available - only in English as I am typing this though. It is called "The Incredible Intergalactic Journey Home".
These are all available on the Lost My Name website for £19.99 and that includes free postage, worldwide!
